Sell your guitar
Information about selling your guitar
At Musical Money, we always reply to every quote received. Whether it's a guitar that we can offer on, or one that is not a viable option, we will let you know and we endeavour to give you the best advice possible.
Being a used guitar, we take each instrument on its own merits. Time, level of care, or just plain and simple use will take its toll on instruments. That shiny new guitar that you had delivered all those years ago, might now have been on a world tour and picked up all sorts of dents, scratches and marks. Or it could be the guitar you bought years ago has been used just a couple of times and has been left under the bed, remaining very shiny. Either way, if your guitar was for example £699 when it was new in 1995, we're sorry to say, does not mean it's worth £650 now. Depreciation instantly wipes out at least 25% of new value as soon as the till goes ka-ching. General use and wear in the following years will increase depreciation further, and add to this other major factors, including your original warranty which runs out or is non transferable – a new model may come out pushing the price of the old one down – not to mention the fact that 20% of your original purchase price was VAT, which is never passed on when a 2nd hand instrument is sold privately. These are all factors that govern the value of your 2nd hand instrument.
Every pre-owned guitar varies from one to the next, whether it be electric, acoustic, electro-acoustic, semi acoustic, bass, acoustic bass, baritone etc… We will consider every aspect of the guitar, Including the frets, fingerboard, neck, pickups, finish on the body, tuners, hardware, nut, bridge, controls, the overall patina, structural integrity and so much more, which all contribute towards each individual instruments condition and value. But whatever goes into the decision to value your instrument, we will remain courteous and professional at all times, because we understand that an instrument is a personal thing and means so much.
Pick any guitar, Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jaguar, Les Paul, ES335, Melody Maker, Hummingbird, Precision Bass, Jazz Bass, any signature series, Super Jumbo, Classical, Concert, Cutaway, 12 String, Limited Edition, Masterbuild, Relic, Custom, I could go on for ever. At Musical Money, we're happy to make an offer or share our advice on all of them, whether they're a viable option for us or not.
